Mark Pritchard, has welcomed the continuing fall in unemployment across Shropshire and in his constituency, following the release of this week’s official unemployment statistics.
Unemployment in Shropshire is now at a six year low, with unemployment in the MP’s constituency of The Wrekin now at just 1.9% - almost half of the West Midlands average of 3.7% and lower than the national average of 2.9%.
At the time of the last General Election there were 1,614 JSA claimants in The Wrekin. This figure is now significantly lower at 879 claimants and falling weekly.
Mark Pritchard MP said: “I am delighted with this continuing fall in unemployment in my constituency and across Shropshire. Over the last year we have seen the largest fall in unemployment since records began thanks to the excellent local businesses who are creating more jobs than ever before. I hope that we continue to see more falls in unemployment over the coming months, giving job security to local people.”
