Following SaTH’s thinly veiled threat of overnight closure of the Princess Royal Hospital’s Accident & Emergency Unit and the Conservative Group’s Emergency Council Meeting called to agree a suitable response; the Labour Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council has been invited to Co-propose a motion, alongside the Conservative Group Leader, condemning the Hospital Trust’s proposals.
Conservative Leader Andrew Eade said “this is an unprecedented offer which has never been done at Telford & Wrekin Council before and displays the depth of feeling about the current configuration of health services across Shropshire and especially in the Borough of Telford and Wrekin its surrounding communities.”
“It is right and proper that all councillors should be given the opportunity to rally around our hospital and present a united front. It is what our community expect and it is what our community deserves.”
“It is incumbent on SaTh to keep services open at both hospitals until their failure to attract additional Consultants is remedied and a final solution is put in place to give us the first class health services we deserve.”
“At the moment we are in grave danger of losing the local argument and must be very clear about what we wish to see in place in order to attract the best Consultants and give us the best modern services available.”
