Under the Conservative administration the wage bill at Telford and Wrekin has dropped by £1.1 million.
Its current wage bill includes pension and national insurance contributions for its 3,647 staff.
John O’Connell, research director for the independent Taxpayers Alliance, said “It’s good to see that wages are coming down, but more could be down to make even bigger savings. Telford and Wrekin’s bill is still huge and puts pressure on taxpayers. More significant action is needed as light pruning simply won’t do.”
However, at a recent full council meeting new Labour Leader, Councillor Kuldip Sahota, stated that Telford and Wrekin staff wages and hours would not be affected after he was quizzed by a fellow councillor.
