Telford & Wrekin Conservative Leader has warmly welcomed an extra £6,822,111 of Government funding over the next 3 years to fund Social Care expenditure in the Borough.
Cllr Eade said “This is very good news for Telford & Wrekin Council and will go a long way to help us balance the books. However it is important that the current Labour Administration regain control of Social care expenditure as they promised to do several years ago.”
“Since taking control of the Council they have continually exceeded their Social Care budget which has resulted in a huge £13.7m overspend and, despite a number of expenditure plans coming and going, the Social Care budget continues to spiral out of control.”
“Although we are still awaiting details on how the extra funding announced by the Chancellor should be allocated, this money is a very significant boost to the Council’s finances.”
