During the full Telford and Wrekin Council meeting the Conservative Group put forward a motion to support the provision of vitally important services to remain at PRH in Telford and Wrekin - something local residents feel passionately about.
Cllr Nicola Lowery stated: “The need and demands for healthcare provision in the UK has drastically changed, which has called on our healthcare professionals to transform how services are provided to better serve the needs of patients. In Shropshire under the Future Fit proposal our Accident & Emergency would be replaced by two urgent care centres which will be located at the PRH in Telford and RSH in Shrewsbury which will be able to all minor injuries and illnesses that the two A&E departments at Shrewsbury and Telford deal with at present. One emergency centre will improve safety and quality of our services and bring specialists together in one place to give patients the best possible care.
“As a Borough Telford & Wrekin has the infrastructure in place providing quicker transport links, we have a site with room for expansion and we have one of the fastest growing populations in the UK with severe pockets of deprivation. This coupled with the very evidence that was used to secure the W&C centre provides a strong evidence based case to secure the emergency care centre in Telford.”
Disappointingly the Labour administration did not support the motion. For more information about the vitally important work Conservative Councillors in Telford and Wrekin are undertaking to preserve our healthcare provision please get in touch.
