Following a shake-up of the top brass at Telford and Wrekin to bring the authority into line with being a Co-operative Council Victor Brownlees has asked for redundancy.
Councillor Andrew Eade, leader of the Conservative Group, says that “The redundancy will cost the council thousands of pounds which could be spent on frontline services”. He said that Victor Brownlees has been an exceptional chief executive who had helped save £20 million in costs at the council enabling Telford and Wrekin Council to bring in the lowest council tax for a unitary authority in the Midlands.
