Reacting to the news concerning the planning appeal in Newport next to Beechfields Way, Councillor Tim Nelson stated:
"In a rare victory for residents, planning inspector Mr Rose has dismissed Redrows application to build 170 unwanted houses in Newport north and west ward. Citing unacceptable environmental damage, the inspector has sided with the residents in protecting much loved open green space from the bulldozer. I had the honour to be asked by residents to speak on their behalf at the public enquiry, and was able to attend the inspectors site visit. It has turned out to be a rainy and muddy afternoon very well spent. My hat goes off to the residents of Beechfields, Newport, who fought a successful fight!
