Andrew Lansley, the Secretary of State for Health, was the guest Speaker at a social function in The Wrekin yesterday.
We were treated to a very wide ranging and informative speech regarding the proposed changes to the health service and he took some very challenging questions.
Some of his points are itemised below.
We are increasing our investment on Health – in Wales the Labour administration is reducing spending on Health.
We are reducing the cost of NHS administration and investing the savings into front line services.
We must bring our health outcomes up, under Labour they dropped down the international league tables.
Our waiting times are going down, in Wales they are going up.
We cannot afford to do nothing, there are many challenges ahead, we must stop the top down reconfiguration from Whitehall and allow decisions to be made locally.
The health service is not being privatised.
