Conservative Group Leader Andrew Eade said “In maintaining vital front line services for our community it is important to make every saving possible rather than increasing expenditure on the number of highest earners at the council or making huge redundancy payments to the departing Chief Executive.”
Although unions play an important role at the authority this huge cost of £130,000 every year is robbing the council of funds to provide services and support to all people across the borough and I demand that Cllr Sahota make a clear statement that this wholesale waste of public funds is halted straight away.”
“It is deeply wrong that council tax payers in Telford & Wrekin have to dig deep into their pockets to fund union representation for council employees, many of which don’t even live in the borough.”
“If this level of representation is needed then the Unions nationally should fund the posts not hard pressed council tax payers in the Wrekin”
