In a Statement by Prime Minister, David Cameron, on the typhoon in the Philippines Mark Pritchard, called on the Prime Minister to join him in calling for the rebel groups in the southern Philippines to end their fighting and lay down their arms against the Filipino army following the recent typhoon that has wrought devastation across the Philippines.
Mark made his comments during a special statement by the Prime Minister in which he updated Parliament on the recent disaster in the Philippines.
After the debate, the Mark said:
“It really is essential now, following the devastation and crisis caused by Typhoon Haiyan, that the Philippines Army is able to focus all of its efforts on helping those in need throughout the country. At this stage, nothing else could be more important. I hope others will join me in calling for the splinter groups from the MNLA and MILA, in the southern Philippines to lay down their arms and allow the army to focus on the important recovery operation”
