Mark Pritchard, has written to Telford & Wrekin Council asking them to intervene to save the Listen and Care day Centre in Leegomery.
The centre provides an activity based day centre care for up to seventy mentally impaired and disabled people.
Visitors have to pay seventy pence per visit, an increase of forty per cent on the fees in 2012.
The Centre, manned by local volunteers, and which was only opened in 2009, at a cost of £400,000, has also been recognised with a Golden Jubilee Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Mr Pritchard said:
“At a time when the Council has admitted making massive overpayments of tens of thousands of pounds to suppliers they are now going to shut down a vital day centre, which only costs two pounds per week per user. The costs will be greater if visitors are forced to be looked after in their own homes.
