Mark Pritchard has shown his support for grassroots football by presenting a cheque to representatives from Albrighton Football Club and Idsall School in his constituency. Both organisations, which support keen young footballers from across The Wrekin, have recently been awarded funding from the Football foundation - the country’s largest sports charity.
This week, Albrighton FC were awarded £5000 from the Grow The Game scheme - an initiative that seeks to help clubs provide new opportunities for players and train up new volunteers to help support the team.
Idsall School, in partnership with Idsall Sports Centre, was awarded a total of £4,872 from the Youth Goalposts Scheme; a scheme that provides funding for the installation of goalposts more relevant to the age and size of players, giving them the opportunity to compete in various different tournaments and leagues.
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said:
“Today’s Cheque presentation represents the culmination of lots of hard work between Albrighton FC, Idsall School in partnership with Idsall Sports Centre, and the Shropshire County FA. These grants will make a significant difference to grassroots football in the area and to the youth of the local community, and I am delighted to see local Member of Parliament, Mark Pritchard, supporting the projects.”
