Telford and Wrekin Council is spending £300,000 on a speculative planning application to build a massive warehouse 100ft high on a 20 acre site, in a bid to attract the Army to come to Telford.
The massive building will have a huge impact on the village of Preston, and settlements of Horton and Hoo that surround the site.
However, despite acquiring the land during October last year the council failed to comply with best practice and submitted the planning application before consulting with the surrounding community. Consequently residents, who have suggested altering the position of buildings to lessen their impact, have now been told it is too late for the council to change its plans.
