When elected two and a half years ago our newly elected Labour councillors made a big deal of being a ‘Co-operative’ council and formed a ‘Co-operative Commission’ comprising of local businessmen to advise on policy issues.
This group has now been abandoned – in a recent email members were notified that there would be no more regular meetings.
It would be very interesting to know what has been achieved by this group, was it simply for show, or did it produce sensible ideas, if the latter why disband it and how much has it cost the rate payer?
Now that this group is no longer meeting can the Telford and Wrekin Council continue to call itself a ‘Co-operative’ Council and if so with whom are they co-operating?
