Each MP spoke and the then there followed questions.
Philip Dunne, (Ludlow) spoke on Defence, he is Minister for Defence, Support and Technology. Daniel Kawczyski (Shrewsbury) is Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Welsh Minister, and he also has an interest in exports, and Owen Paterson ( North Shropshire) is the Environment Secretary.
They spoke very positively about the economy, but there is a lot of work to do - it was pointed out that Britain is the 5th largest economy in the world but ranks only 13th in exports. Daniel would like to know of SMEs locally who would like to export, but don't.
Despite local government cuts 6 ot of 10 think services are better.
Owen pointed out how much more can be achieved by all the Conservative MPs working together and as an example sited the Direct Rail link to London and how hard they had all worked on that.
As far as the Rural economy was concerned Labour has no interest in rural affairs and they had let the TB issue get out of hand. 300,000 cattle have had to be destroyed and the bill for this is heading for £1billion.
Philip stated that at a company advertising for workers in Bridgnorth there were more jobs than applicants, and Daniel said that there have been 680 start-ups in Shrewsbury and the improvements in the economy are not just London centric.
