The bus station was due to be demolished as part of the revamp of the Box Road but the plans have been halted.
The decision was taken by the Borough planning committee to put a legal injunction to prevent any work on the bus station UNTIL AN ALTERNATIVE HAS BEEN AGREED.
A large number of objections had been received from Arriva, Mark Pritchard, Telford and Wrekin Bus Users Group, Church Aston Parish Council and many others.
Ian Fletcher, Conservative Borough Councillor for Priorslee and Nigel Dugmore, Conservative for Muxton, both abstained from voting, warning that its demolishion would lead to 'pasengers dodging the traffic'.
The plan had been to place six bus stops along the Box Road. It was stated that - 'the existing bus station is very convenient for customers, provides excellent interchange facilities in a safe and modern environment and is well used handling 2,500 passengers a day'.
