Telford and Wrekin Borough Council have, at last, decided to take the Government Grant and not put up local council tax in the next two years.
They refused to take this grant in the previous two years, preferring instead to put up the local tax by 2.4% and 1.9% thus taking £2.4 million out of the local economy.
They should be commended for belatedly showing some concern for those living on fixed incomes but one can’t help wondering if they would be doing this if there wasn’t an election coming in 18 months time!
