Newport's very own Cllr Tim Nelson competed in yesterday's Shrewsbury Regatta in a team made up entirely of over-60s.
Shrewsbury Regatta is one of the oldest such events in the country, having been started in 1871. It is held in May every year (barring wars and pandemics) by Pengwern Boat Club.
Cllr Nelson competed for Evesham Rowing Club. Why Evesham? It's a long story which he will no doubt be happy to relay if you ask him.
His team didn't win but they had "a good row in the sunshine".
